2010 Poster and Poetry Contest Winners

CONGRATULATIONS
to the winners of the 2010 Water Conservation Week
Poster and Poetry Contest!

Winners from the Honolulu Board of Water Supply's (BWS) 2010 Water Conservation Week Poster and Poetry Contests were announced on May 5, 2010 at an awards ceremony at the Mission Memorial Auditorium.  Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann presented the students with awards for their excellent portrayal of this year's contest theme, "Stop the Drop.

"This contest is an excellent way to educate Oahu's students about protecting our precious water resources," said Mayor Hannemann.  "I would like to praise the superior talent of these environmentally-conscious keiki, whose fine work illustrates the important role water conservation plays in protecting our aina for future generations."

Congratulations. Above, poster and poetry contest winners pose with Mayor Mufi Hannemann and BWS Manager and Chief Engineer Wayne Hashiro.

This contest theme, "Stop the Drop," asked students to focus their work on one specific and vital water-saving practice - leak detection.  Click HERE to watch a YouTube video showing how you can check for leaks at home.
